What is the definition of an advanced CI dancer?
Is it skill in lifty aerial tricks?
Is it skill in sensitivity to the contact point?
Is it skill in following the contact point wherever it may roll?
Is it skill in dancing comfortably with whomever comes your way?
Is it skill in wearing cool pants with pockets and stripes?

Re: Definition
07/18Are we voting? :)
I like this one: "skill in dancing comfortably with whomever comes your way" -

Re: Definition
07/18Not voting, necessarily.
I just threw those out to tickle the minds of others. But was at first a little afraid to, as did not want to define the discussion. -

Re: Definition
07/18always a beginner myself, honestly so,
there is certainly the 'wow factor' of graceful lifts and flying ~~ as performance work those skills are important
but the experience of dancing with someone i would describe as 'advanced' has to do with their weightlessness, their ease, their ability to listen, their ability to put me at ease. it has to do with presence, with being in the moment, and with knowing their bodies.
and of course cool stripey pants are always good, -

07/19<<<lifts and flying ~~ as performance work those skills are important>>>
Is that the extent of CI performance? -

Re: Definition
07/19of course not, but it does wow the audience. i have watched plenty of ci performance for which it seemed lifts and flying were the dance. watched one last weekend at the country fair in fact. i left early.

Re: Definition
07/20I would like to second Vajrana's response... I too think deep listening is very important, allthough some do grasp it in early days of learning contact. Weightlessness, ease, presence.
I second the cool stripey pants as well, of course!
